A Hymn to Lazy Students at the end of the semester

Woe to you who desire the end of the semester!

Why would you have the end of the semester?

It is darkness and not light,

as if a student was given full credit for attendance,

but failed the final;

or did the extra credit

and skipped the midterm.

Is not the end of the semester darkness and not light,

and misery with no passing grades?

I hate, I despise your study sessions,

And I take no delight in your all-nighters.

Even though you ask me for extensions,

I will not grant them.

Take away from me the noise of your emails

and unfriend me on Facebook.

But let justice roll down like waters,

and earned grades like an ever-flowing stream.

This is inspired by Amos 5:18-24, and a few students who seem determined to shorten my lifespan.
